-1 for the system tray. It's not going to look good when there are 2-3 Eclipse instances up. I'd rather see the Eclipse status bar being used - or maybe some other widget in the Eclipse window. This certainly needs some kind of UI to allow users manage feeds and some not-so-much intrusive way to notify them about news.
