Re: [ease-dev] Adding a button to the main toolbar

Inspired by your mail I played around a little. This is the current status:

1) adding main toolbar buttons

Works like in your example.

- the contribution gets persisted when the workbench is closed. Therefore a cleanup would be needed for such contributions. Same counts for main menus.

2) adding view toolbar buttons

Works like in 1

- the view toolbar does not get rendered automatically when a new contribution is added. It gets drawn but the toolbar does not get resized. - rendering bug on linux/GTK2: toolbar elements having text only cause the toolbar to be drawn below the part title, even if the toolbar would fit next to it. - for these toolbars images using platform:/plugin URIs could not get resolved correctly - rendering bug on linux/GTK3: toolbar elements having text only cause all toolbar items to expand their width. This causes nasty spaces between the elements

Having these things fixed would really simplify adding UI elements. Have to discuss this with colleagues from platform-ui at EclipseCon.
