To end the discussion shortly: It depends, part of it and no.

Thinking about this some more, I've realized that I'm quite a special case here
and my point of view does not apply to a lot of people nor that it is relevent.
Sorry for unnecessarily sidetracking this discussion. I guess I still can't wrap
my head around the idea to have GTK+ releases being deprecated the moment they
have stabilized, and practically only getting 2 years of stable life out of a
release. That is still a thought that is absolutely insane to me.
