Re: [jakarta.ee-wg] Call for Participant Members
|
Hi Marcin,
as already said on EclipseCon, your
initiative is very welcome and I agree to Markus and Tobias to use
an open and federated system, when we not want to stay with a
mailing list solution.
Matrix then is the obvious choice at the moment.
Best,

Hi!
I am not sure I reach you on the mailing list as I am not a
member of it. But of course I support Markus' proposal to build
upon a federated and open solution for your infrastructure
needs.
From my personal perspective it is essential that we extend the
support for federated/decentralized solutions. As such I also
offer some free support if someone wants to run an own Jitsi or
even a Workadventure instance for live meetings. We had very
good experiences with Jitsi especially for smaller (< 15 p.)
meetings.
Matrix has worked as good as Slack for our needs so far. In some
aspects I even prefer it over Slack.
Best
Tobias
Thank
you for this great idea!
The
Eclipse Foundation is running a Synapse-driven
Matrix Infrastructure, just as the iJUG does. As
the iJUG's Vice Ambassador at the EF, and as a
member of the iJUG Infrastructure Team (and iJUG
Matrix Admin), I would like to propose that we
are setting up a Matrix Chat Room on the EF's
Matrix Infrastructure, and invite all the
mentioned people to join it. Regarding Jan (iJUG
Ambassador at the EF) and Tobias (iJUG Executive
Board Member, JUGS) I am pretty sure both would
support that, as I just gave Jan a Matrix
account at the iJUG's Matrix Infrastructure
recently, and as Tobias himself is also part of
the iJUG Infrastructure Team (and iJUG Matrix
Admin, besides me, Marcus Fihlon from JUG CH and
iJUG Executive Board Member Stefan Koospal from
JUG Deutschland). The iJUG recently decided to
run a Matrix-based integrational infrastructure,
i. e. we are running a Matrix-Slack-Bridge and
could help the EF with setting up their own, so
people like Hendrik that prefer Slack over
Matrix would be able to join.

Dear Jakarta EE participating
members,
A few weeks ago, during the
EclipseCon I had the pleasure of meeting with
some representatives of
participating members (Jan and Tobias from the
iJUG, Hendrik from the OpenElemens, Arjan and
David from the Omnifish,
as well as all the folks from a guest member
SouJAVA). It was great to
speak with you and get your
perspective on the Jakarta EE.
However, the participating
group in the Jakarta EE working group has 15
members. As your representative in the Steering
Committee, I would like to
create a communication channel
with all of you. This would help to
represent your views, expectations, and priorities
to the committee and
to achieve one of the project's strategic
objectives, which is to grow
the number of Working Group
members.
If you think this is
something that would benefit your organization's
involvement in the Jakarta EE project, please
let me know.
