Re: [jakarta.ee-wg] Call for Participant Members

Hi Reza,

I think the confusion comes from my use of the "participation" word, which in our context means a group of smaller members of Jakarta EE. But I hope Jan clears that as I wouldn't write it any better.

As example, recently we had a discussion about versioning and backward compatibility. And as much as Abraham has kept me in the loop as he was involved in all the nitty-gritty, in the end, it was his (or the LJC) view. I would like to represent the opinions of all participating members at the Steering Committee meetings, hence I want to establish a way to communicate with all organisations I represent.

If we can create a channel which is more open and transparent than some private connections between us, the better IMHO.

I am happy to have a chat if something still is not clear.

Best
Marcin

Hi Reza,

unfortunately you missed our discussion at EclispeCon.

As Marcin wrote, his idea is to coordinate the work of Participant Members between the multiple committees a little bit better by establishing a communication channel.
Even when being elected, a Participant Member is only responsible for acting (voting) on behalf of it's own organisation by the EF rules, especially we, representing community organisations (and smaller ones), are interested to collaborate closer on specific topics to move things forward and also have way to involve more individuals of the community - as we usually can not simply employ them and send them to all the committees. ;-)

Background is, as opposed to the Strategic Members, who send Representatives to all meetings and have vital internal communication channels, we smaller organisations have a lack of communication that we want to overcome.

Best,
Jan

I am totally confused. What are you actually asking about? Participating in what?

Dear Jakarta EE participating members,

A few weeks ago, during the EclipseCon I had the pleasure of meeting with
some representatives of participating members (Jan and Tobias from the
iJUG, Hendrik from the OpenElemens, Arjan and David from the Omnifish,
as well as all the folks from a guest member SouJAVA). It was great to
speak with you and get your perspective on the Jakarta EE.

However, the participating group in the Jakarta EE working group has 15 members. As your representative in the Steering Committee, I would like to
create a communication channel with all of you. This would help to
represent your views, expectations, and priorities to the committee and
to achieve one of the project's strategic objectives, which is to grow
the number of Working Group members.

If you think this is something that would benefit your organization's involvement in the Jakarta EE project, please let me know.

Best
