(This is the official version).
Greetings,
The Phoenix team wants to refresh the look of the Eclipse website, and
is looking for new Skin submissions. Please note the current goal is
to put a fresh, modern look on the existing content ONLY, as content
restructure will occur as a separate effort.
We're actually looking for two types of site designs:
1. Envision a great new Eclipse.org
Imagine there are no rules or guidelines... How would you want the
www.eclipse.org
homepage, and a typical content page, look? Now's the
time to be bold and audacious.
2. Modernize the current Eclipse.org
This is all about putting a modern look on our current site, with some
simple guidelines:
a.. a clean and uncluttered presentation that is readable at a
resolution of 1024 x 768 and respects the font size set by browsers
b.. effective use of Eclipse software icons, colour palettes and other
visual clues that could help potential users identify the web site with
the product
c.. visual representation of the existing site elements must remain
-- top banner must be generally purple, with the Eclipse logo in the
upper lefthand position and the Contact, Legal and three site buttons
on the right
-- top navigation bar: Home, Community, Membership, Committers,
Downloads, Resources, Projects, About Us
-- 3- and 4- column page elements: Left Nav, right-side "boxes", center
column
'content boxes' like on http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/
and http://www.eclipse.org/phoenix/
The visual appearance of all these elements can be altered and
modernized, but the elements themselves must be present.
Submissions should be in Low Res JPG or PNG Files (No HTML files
please). We will ask for the winning submission in HTML/CSS format, or
in EPS format. All submissions are subject to the Eclipse Public
License Agreement: http://www.eclipse.org/legal/epl-v10.html
The Skin submissions will be voted on by the Eclipse community using
Bugzilla's voting mechanism.
How to submit a Skin:
1. Go to https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs
and create a bugzilla account if you don't have one already
2. Create (report) a New bug in the Community/Website (the Eclipse
Website) product.
3. Name your Skin. Write your Skin's name in the subject and comments
sections.
4. Commit your bug with the JPG/PNG attachment.
5. The community may comment on your skin. Post updates by creating a
new attachment for the same bug. Do not open a new bug for the same
skin.
Submission Due Date: July 31/2008.
