Re: [mylar-dev] dev build

Not so related to this subject, but one thing that always annoyed me
is that my brain read "New Repository Task" as "Add Existing Task".

Perhaps because I understand "new" as "adding something new to the
task list" instead of "creating a new task on a repository".

Anyone else here feels the same?

I get confused as well sometimes. Could the two not be streamlined
into one? Adding an existing task to the taskview only needs to know a
repository and an ID. Why not have an input field on the create task
dialog that would allow to put an ID in and if that is done would just
add the task and if no ID is put into the field, the field gets
ignored and the user can create a new task. I hope you understand what
I mean.

Another thing to consider:

Adding a new task also means: create new task in task list, but there
is no wizard available in the File->New menu for this. Or maybe rather
in the File->Import. Instead the context menu has to be used which for
me involves using the mouse.

New Repository Task is used to add an entry to a repository. This does
not necessarily have to be a task. It is a task in the task list view,
but it could be a bug, an thread on a message board etc. A user might
just want to file a bug, but not use the generated task. Instead
following the bug reports and patches by email. What I am getting at
is that there are different usage scenarios for the "New Repository
Task" and in some having a different name would be more appropriate.

And adding even more things to this thread.
Is there a reason why local task are second class citizens? It is not
possible to add attachments. It would also be nice if a local task
could depend on another local task. I have been using local tasks when
I was offline for a few hours every now and then. And using a web
repository it is not possible to create new tasks offline. Another use
case would be for a small project with a single developer where there
is no repository and setting up a local bugzilla would be too much
hassle.
