Thanks for this discussion. How does Django come into play there?

Is it just a reuse of the acronym M2M?

At least Ford's OpenXC does provide a Python client for Automotive/M2M, as well, so it's not like Python would not be relevant there. And although I doubt it depends on Django, there is also at least one popular MQTT client written in Python. 

The name is Mosquitto, which also makes it sound similar to "Mockito", the Mock framework. Probably another source of slight confusion, at least if people don't know how exactly to spell them.
