OK, Mary is lonely.  Let's give her a "friend" attribute that can be
another "Person".  Can you extend the example with this?  It's becoming
clearer and I'd like to see an attribute whose range (I would think)
would be a class.

I'm going to work up what a LDAP "Person" would look like based on what
I get from your example and send that out.  I'll include Mark Wahl as
well and get his thoughts.

You're right. There were two bugs. Both fixed here

Bug #1 was your #1 below: homePhone should indeed have had a domain of
Person
Bug #2 was that both homePhone and eyeColor should have ranges that
are
StringDatatypeAttribute (subclass of DatatypeAttribute, subclass of
Attribute).

More eyeballs wins again!
