Good point :).  ECF does have a bittorrent provider as well:

CVS
/cvsroot/technology/org.eclipse.ecf/providers/org.eclipse.ecf.provider.bittorrent
which depends upon
/cvsroot/technology/org.eclipse.ecf/incubation/plugins/org.eclipse.bittorrent

The URL protocol type is specified in the provider plugin as 'torrent'
