Please: neither get rid of the Eclipse Standard package (w/ JDT, PDE, EGIT, MPC) nor add anything else to it to make it look like the IDE for Java Developers or IDE for RCP/RAP Developers.
The Standard package is closest to the "minimal Eclipse Java IDE“ with the minimally cluttered UI a developer can download from Eclipse.org. In my humble opinion, a "Minimals package“ for Java Developers (and maybe a "Minimals package“ for Eclipse Plug-In Developers - which is Standard right now) is what should be offered instead of bloating the Standard package.

Right. Another example of confusing labeling. Arguably, that one should be just “Eclipse IDE for RAP Developers”. I would doubt that standard RCP developers are interested in that package. That’s not the only example where this naming pattern is causing unnecessary confusion. We have two packages labeled “Java and X”. - Konstantin
I think “Plugin Developer might be more clear in that respect. There is also a package for RCP and RAP developers…. _______________________________________________ epp-dev mailing list epp-dev@xxxxxxxxxxxhttps://dev.eclipse.org/mailman/listinfo/epp-dev
