Re: [cdt-dev] CDT Fall Conference

I guess how much time it will take also depends upon the goal of the
discussion. For example, will the goal of the discussion be to agree to
changes and who will do them in what timeframe?

Photran 3.0 includes a "patched" CDT, where we have replaced C and C++ project types with generic Make project types and integrated an extension point into the Core for adding additional languages. We would really, really like to have these integrated into the "real" CDT so we don't have to make our own.

So I think our primary goal for the conference is to get our existing changes into the CDT.

Once we have agreed on that, though, there are lots of longer term things to consider, and the conference is the ideal place to discuss them. We could continue this discussion in the evening if the conference slot is not enough time to cover everything.

I don't remember seeing this mentioned explicitly, but I assume people
are also interested in multiple language support in a single project.
That is mixing any combination of C, C++, Fortran, and other languages
in the same project. Are the Photran talks going to raise this
requirement?

We don't believe it is necessary to have separate project types for each CDT language. With our current strategy (generic Make Projects), there is no problem with having C/C++ and Fortran in the same project. They're not exceptionally well-integrated with each other, but they're both there.

Basically, it's more of a solution than a requirement.
