CDT Monthly Call

Infrastructure
- IBM - cvs- There are issues
with creating new projects - soft links were added to maintain backward
compatible. These links are now causing issues so its time to get rid of
them. This item had been posted to the news group and there were no
objections, there were also no objections on the call, so it will be done.
Planning
- Derrick spoke about what the Eclipse
Foundation is trying to achieve by creating a Roadmap and how project
level planning fits in.
CDT 3.0
- Project Milestones - the use of
milestones was discussed. Several milestones would be set for the project.
Developers could then target specific milestones for delivering their
contributions. This would allow the project team to have a sense of
progress and allow people to plan accordingly when they are dependant on a
feature being complete in order to submit their work. It was also
suggested that our milestones would reflect the eclipse 3.1 milestones,
since we plan to release in sync with them.
- It was also noted during the
call that communication between projects needs to be improved, especially
when they need to synchronize their releases. Any suggestions here would
be appreciated.
- Brent - CDT 2.0 shipped based
on a date, not quality. Everyone seemed to agree that Quality objectives
should be added .It was noted that CDT. 2.1 required that there be no open
issues for the final release candidate. This allowed for open discussion
of what would be fixed or not fixed. We should make this a policy for all
future releases. This is a step in the right direction and we should look
at what can be done better in the future.
CDT 3.0 Features
- IBM - Bogden, Doug - DOM,
indexer improvements
- Intel - Leo - Managed Build

- Monta Vista - Pierre - Remote
development. Want a meeting at eclipse con to discuss/present
architecture. This will be a standalone plug-in. There is no dependency on
the debugger.
- HP - Sumit - Error parser -
Need to discuss whether this is a contribution instead of a core
contribution.

CDT 2.1 Life Cycle
- 2.1.1 - There are several
issues that people would like to see fixed. Alain has asked everyone to submit
the bugs they would like to see fixed. It was proposed that this would be
done for the February time frame. This release would be just fixes no new
features. DONE
EclipseCon
- Derrick to follow-up with Seb
for an update on EclipseCon. Done
