The status is shown by the org.eclipse.jface.dialogs.StatusDialog It would be better if the status is shortened (a la CLabel) in this case.
Is this because your Status is too long? If so you should shorten it as the ellipsis may cut out important information.
Length of a message always depends on factors like language and font size. Shortening the (English) message on our side might definitly make sense, but doesn't save the dialog from implementing a solution to avoid clipping text.
changing title to reflect issue. Benjamin, are you saying in this case you would rather see the text than the image? Or that you would rather there be some other truncation? Note that in bug #99909 we are getting complaints about the image going away before the text...
