Description Randy Hudson CLA 2005-02-22 13:17:31 EST
The CVS decorator page contains a link to the global colors and fonts page.
It's extremely frustrating to the user that all decorator options cannot be
configured (and previewed) on one page. I don't see any benefit to making the
user switch pages.

The user should not be able to configure CVS font and color settings
when "Enable font and color decorations" is disabled.
Comment 2 Michael Valenta CLA 2005-02-22 13:33:08 EST
It is a platform decision to centralize the specification of fonts and colors.
As to the second point, that is covered in bug 73374.

I think that's the wrong decision, and this is a good example of why. So either
platform/UI needs to reconsider, or CVS needs to provide another preview which
gets displayed in this all-encompassing font and color preference page.

Moving to UI for comment.

I think the Team guys have it right - we are trying to centralize colours and
fonts so that people don't have to search around so much.

What we need to do in our decorators extension point is to add an id of a
preference page to link to for the decorator description.

My wish is that in a later release we could choose a good set of colours for a
theme and make the constants public so that the other plug-in providers can just
drop thier preferences and simply this.

But I **DO** have to search around. I have to _leave_ the CVS decorator page to
configure CVS decorator settings. And I get overwhelmed by preference I'm not
interested in.

A perfect analogy would be configuring font and color settings for Internet
Explorer. It would be completely wrong if I had to go back to the Desktop
Display Properties Dialog's Appearance Tab to change the colors of a visited
hyperlink, or the default webpage font.

A global colors and fonts page doesn't scale, but that's a different issue.

To turn on CVS decorations, you must visit yet a THIRD preference page. So the
preference page "Team/CVS/Label Decoarations" should be disabled when the
checkbox on the other preference page "General/Appearance/Label Decoarations" is
not checked. It is frustrating to make changes on the Team preference page and
not actually see anything change in the package explorer.

There are currently no plans to work on this feature
Comment 9 Denis Roy CLA 2009-08-30 02:10:20 EDT
As of now 'LATER' and 'REMIND' resolutions are no longer supported.
Please reopen this bug if it is still valid for you.
