Description Jean-Michel Lemieux CLA 2004-09-07 11:25:34 EDT
For some theme definitions, they are used as optional preferences. For example,
if CVS supported color and fonts for the decorations the user could decide if
they wanted to use colors and fonts. A definition with an optional
enabled/disabled checkbox would allow this to be shown to the user.

Without this support, from the fonts and colors page it looks like all settings
are used at all times. And changing one of the definitions will result in a
change to the UI. This is not always the case because the colors and fonts may
be enabled from another preference page.

I'm reworking the Team/CVS decoration story and have hit this issue again. We currently have a preference on the CVS preference page that enables the font and color support. Without this, on some platforms, we end up changing the font used (i.e. the default font of the theme doesn't match that of the tree). I am in the process of generalizing some of the decoration support and need to move some of the CVS theme entries to Team.

I seem to recall that the potential solution we discussed in the past was to add another state to the entry in the theme that would indicate whether the entry was enabled or not. If it wasn't, the decorator would not use the font or color from the theme. Is there any plan to address this?

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
