Please implement the ability to drag one tab from a Window to another Window. This is very useful for multi-monitor support and saves having to look up a java class again in the new window when you want to simply move it from the existing one.
This was requested as one of the items in bug 46235. Bug 59022 requests some of the infrastructure that will be needed for this feature. Agree that this is an important feature for multimonitor support, but it might be hard to implement without breakage. Currently, views cannot be moved between WorkbenchPages. Possible solutions: 1. Remove (or relax) this constraint 2. Allow the same WorkbenchPage to contain multiple WorkbenchWindows (as opposed to the current model where a WorkbenchWindow contains a single WorkbenchPage).
Note that you can drag a file to the editor area of a window to open it. If you have Link with Editor on in the Navigator or Package Explorer, its pretty easy to get the current editor's file open in the second window.
Note: this enhancement is useful for both editors and views
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
