Description Harald Löhnert CLA 2021-10-15 10:44:03 EDT
If I detach a code editor via context-menu -> detach, the tool-tips of the markers in the vertical rule don't work.

If I detach the editor by drag'n drop, the tool-tips work.

I was not able to reproduce your exact issue, but to me it looks like that the detached window is not activated correctly.
Similarly like in the DND case, the detached window should activate the correct context, See Bug 408849.

Do the tool-tips start working if you re-apply focus to the detached window?
Comment 2 Harald Löhnert CLA 2021-10-20 03:58:53 EDT
Detaching by DND works.

Detaching by context-menu -> detach: tool-tips of the markers in the vertical ruler don't work - focus reapplied several times. The tool-tips in the main-window are working, so basically the window is focused. Only the tool-tips of the markers in the left vertical ruler are not working.

I have now noticed that when I move the detached window all the way to the right edge of the monitor, I can see that the tooltip is behind the window.

I was still not able to reproduce, additional questions:
- Which editor/file do you see the problem for?
- Do you use a HiDPI monitor, i.e. use a zoom level different than 100%?
Comment 5 Rolf Theunissen CLA 2021-10-21 06:21:56 EDT
I can reproduce it like Bug 504310
Comment 6 Harald Löhnert CLA 2021-10-25 13:50:19 EDT
I can reproduce the behavior with the Java-Editor, but also with my own text-based editor.

My monitor has a resolution of 2560x1440 and I don't use a zoom level (100%).

Is there any progress?
Will this issue be solved at any of the next versions?

Sure, if someone contributes the fix.
