In Eclipse MAT we followed bug 337588 by adding 'Close Tabs to the Right' etc. to the tabs created when running queries. [The remaining tabs inherit the Eclipse behaviour.]

I also added 'Move to the &Left' and 'Move to the &Right' which makes keyboard
rearrangement of tabs easier. See Bug 567758 and attachment 284417 [details]

MAT keeps the menu open when the tab has moved then so then typing repeated 'L' 'L' 'L' or 'R' 'R' 'R' moves the tab quickly to where required.

Would this idea be useful for the platform?

Discovered this request when I looked for the tab move keyboard shortcut, and I'm surprised such basic functionality is not implemented, yet.

I'd greatly appreciate if someone would implement tab/editor move as well as allow to map keys to this action.
