I20040316 I am concerned that having this button available will be confusing to users who are using repository providers other than CVS. Shouldn't we leave this off by default? and have some other way to enable this function (leverage the scalability work?)
Yes I thought about this, but this button is actually contributed by Team now and not CVS. Any repository provider can add a synchronize wizard, in effect a trigger for an action to bring the workspace resources in sync with the repo. This is new 3.0 API and I feel that this can apply to all repo providers. For example, with ClearCase and web views/snapshot views this would be the wizard for updating the workspace. Consider the Run/Debug global actions, they are shown in the default perspective but could be in the Debug/Run perspective instead. One reason for having them visible by default is that they are fundamental to daily workflows, much in the same way as Team synchronization.

I vote that we disable the global Team Synchronize toolbar action since debug and run are no longer enabled by default either. It will be available in the synchronize perspective instead.
fixed.
