a java source file and its screen shots on 4.7 and 4.8.

It difficult to describe the bug, please see the attachment files.

It's okey on eclipse 4.7.3-, and wrang on eclipse 4.8/4.9/4.10。

Only JDT's java editor has this problem.

JSDT's java script editor is okey.

Kalyan, please check whether you can reproduce and also test in the Text editor.
Comment 2 sunx well CLA 2018-12-24 20:32:52 EST
Maybe a Platform UI bug.

snaps in 4.10

both java editor and Text editor and Generic text editor in 4.10 have the problem.

sorry, the reproducing steps are uncertain.

please open the A.java use java editor, if it is right, close it and reopen it with java editor or text editor. and also open/close the .project or .classpath file intermittently, after many retry times, A.java maybe displayed abnormally.

once it display abnormally, it never become correctlly even if continue to close and reopen many times.

In 4.8 and 4.9, I never see the Text editor and Generic text editor have this problem, only java editor has the problem.

Can you also provide the details of the encoding being used. Right click on the project, open properties -> Resources and provide a snapshot of the "Text file encoding" . I have used "UTF-8"
Comment 8 sunx well CLA 2018-12-27 22:59:55 EST
Yes, it's UTF-8 encoding.
Comment 9 Dani Megert CLA 2018-12-28 05:21:23 EST
Maybe you have installed some additional stuff that's causing this.

Please try with https://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/R-4.10-201812060815/ and a new workspace.

What JRE are you using?
Comment 10 sunx well CLA 2018-12-28 05:42:57 EST
I have used a clean eclipse 4.10 without any dropins.

OS is Windows 10 1607 64bit.

JDK is oracle Java SE 8u192.

Did you try with the one from comment 9?
Comment 12 sunx well CLA 2018-12-28 08:46:50 EST
I think that I have already tried it.
I use the package from here:
ftp://mirrors.ustc.edu.cn/eclipse/eclipse/downloads/drops4/R-4.10-201812060815/eclipse-SDK-4.10-win32-x86_64.zip

And surely with a new clean workspace.

I think it has nothing to do with Consolas font.
Because it's wrang with other font such as Courier New.

please pay attention to this bug.
