As state in https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=430278#c35 the themed scrollbars for styled text do not work on macOS.

I think the issue is not mac, but rather showing whitespaces (so, please try without showing whitespace chars).

If that's not the case, please reopen.
