Consider this example. I have a package 'a', and another one, 'a.b'. If I have a file in 'a.b' that has been modified, the '>' "dirty" marker shows up on 'a'. While this makes some sense when the package explorer is in heirarchical mode, it doesn't makes sense when it is in the "flat mode".
