Created attachment 242161 [details] Eclipse marble is 230px wide but 223px instead of 230px high The Eclipse marble of the program and window icons is not a perfect circle. For instance, in eclipse256.png (http://git.eclipse.org/c/platform/eclipse.platform.git/plain/platform/org.eclipse.platform/eclipse256.png) the Eclipse marble is 230px wide but 223px instead of 230px high: see attached image
Are you just making an observation? ... Or, think that not being a circle is causing problems? Thanks for the observation, though.
(In reply to David Williams from comment #1) It's not precisely a problem but for aesthetic reasons it would be nice to have a perfect circle, wouldn't it?

Yes (probably) ... I was just trying to get you to state "the problem to solve" ... and I think "look bad because its not a precisely a circle" is a fine bug. But ... in this case, I suspect the designer did it since the "crescent" for to "balances out" the circle ... and maybe it'll look lopsided, if marble is perfect circle ... But, I'm wondering if some of the "not perfect circle" is part of the reason it doesn't scale down as smoothly has it has in the past. So, will make that part of my investigation. Thanks again,
(In reply to David Williams from comment #3) In the original logo it is a perfect circle (see http://eclipse.org/artwork/). Only the program and window icons of all sizes (except the 16x16 icon which did not have the orange crescent) are affected. In my eyes it's not a feature, it's a (minor) bug.
Will count this as an enhancement request, as part of the general "improve icon appearance" bug 433868.
