Description Philipe Mulet CLA 2003-06-18 06:23:40 EDT
Build 3.0m1

When browsing through search results, the editor will update but the package
explorer (though in linked mode) will not update until the editor regains focus.

This feels inconsistent.
Comment 1 Dani Megert CLA 2003-07-14 03:49:36 EDT
The editor is not activated upon opening (by intention since the Search view
wants to keep the focus while stepping).

To get the behavior you desire the platform would have to change the meaning of
linking: it would not only be triggered when an editor gets activated but also
when an editor gets opened (independent of the activation state).

Moving to Platform UI for comment.

Note: Java Browsing views are your friend ;-) they follow the search view's
selection since they listen on selection changes.
Comment 2 Debbie Wilson CLA 2003-07-14 11:37:35 EDT
Same behaviour exists in Navigator view.
Comment 3 Knut Radloff CLA 2003-07-15 21:44:15 EDT
I think this is a bug. The "link with editor" feature is not described as
linking to the active editor but to the open editor.
We'll have to try out how this feels though.

Reassigning to Nick since he is taking ownership of Navigator

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
