I20100126-0800 1) Checkout org.eclipse.platform plugin from HEAD 2) Right click on splash.bmp, Team > Show History 3) Right click on any further that is *not* the current revision 4) Open With > Other... 5) Select an external editor, such as Microsoft Photo Editor -> An error dialog opens saying "Cannot open external editor". Also, I can't reproduce this consistently but sometimes I also find this in my log file: org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Widget is disposed at org.eclipse.swt.SWT.error(SWT.java:4083) at org.eclipse.swt.SWT.error(SWT.java:3998) at org.eclipse.swt.SWT.error(SWT.java:3969) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Widget.error(Widget.java:467) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Widget.checkWidget(Widget.java:340) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Table.getSelection(Table.java:2481) at org.eclipse.jface.viewers.TableViewer.getItemAt(TableViewer.java:192) at org.eclipse.jface.viewers.ColumnViewer.getViewerRow(ColumnViewer.java:138) at org.eclipse.jface.viewers.ColumnViewer.getCell(ColumnViewer.java:121) at org.eclipse.jface.viewers.ColumnViewer.handleMouseDown(ColumnViewer.java:661) at org.eclipse.jface.viewers.ColumnViewer.access$0(ColumnViewer.java:660) at org.eclipse.jface.viewers.ColumnViewer$1.mouseDoubleClick(ColumnViewer.java:94) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.TypedListener.handleEvent(TypedListener.java:183) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.EventTable.sendEvent(EventTable.java:84) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Widget.sendEvent(Widget.java:1050) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.runDeferredEvents(Display.java:3984) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.readAndDispatch(Display.java:3577) at org.eclipse.jface.window.Window.runEventLoop(Window.java:825) at org.eclipse.jface.window.Window.open(Window.java:801) at org.eclipse.team.internal.ui.actions.OpenWithMenu$3.handleEvent(OpenWithMenu.java:206) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.EventTable.sendEvent(EventTable.java:84) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Widget.sendEvent(Widget.java:1050) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.runDeferredEvents(Display.java:3984) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.readAndDispatch(Display.java:3577) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench.runEventLoop(Workbench.java:2407) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench.runUI(Workbench.java:2371) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench.access$4(Workbench.java:2220) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench$5.run(Workbench.java:500) at org.eclipse.core.databinding.observable.Realm.runWithDefault(Realm.java:332) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench.createAndRunWorkbench(Workbench.java:493) at org.eclipse.ui.PlatformUI.createAndRunWorkbench(PlatformUI.java:149) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.ide.application.IDEApplication.start(IDEApplication.java:115) at org.eclipse.equinox.internal.app.EclipseAppHandle.run(EclipseAppHandle.java:194) at org.eclipse.core.runtime.internal.adaptor.EclipseAppLauncher.runApplication(EclipseAppLauncher.java:110) at org.eclipse.core.runtime.internal.adaptor.EclipseAppLauncher.start(EclipseAppLauncher.java:79) at org.eclipse.core.runtime.adaptor.EclipseStarter.run(EclipseStarter.java:367) at org.eclipse.core.runtime.adaptor.EclipseStarter.run(EclipseStarter.java:179) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:79) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:43) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:618) at org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.Main.invokeFramework(Main.java:611) at org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.Main.basicRun(Main.java:566) at org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.Main.run(Main.java:1363)
I haven't seen the exception, but the error dialog opens each time I follow John's steps. The "Open With..." action was added by Szymon in bug 120602, so I guess he's the man we should ask for comment.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
