Compare with Other Resource dialog creates a hidden project which holds links to external files and folders which the user wants to compare. The initial implementation from Aleksandra deleted the project before a new dialog was opened. This worked fine but resulted in the project being created and removed every time the dialog appeared. At the same time the number of linked files/resources could grow without a limit. The solution proposed in bug 73923, comment 24, limited the number of files with the same name to 3. We can go one step further and limit the total number of linked resources to 3. This doesn't mean we should stop looking for a right place/time where the temporary project could be removed.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.
