I request that the Bookmark View show (and importantly, be sortable by) the date that a bookmark was created. Bookmarks are very rarely used. The Collected Usage Data shows that the Bookmark View was only opened 18 times by six users out of 1,829,889 events and 1228 users http://www.eclipse.org/org/usagedata/results.php I believe that they are rarely used because they are hard to organize and manage, This paper talks about bookmarks with bookmarks in Web browsers http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=274644.274651&type=series The 1998 paper also mentions that some people use the fact that if they don't do any organizing of the bookmarks, they are presented in a list ordered by time created. This helps them keep track of tasks that weren't finished, etc. I would think it would be easy to store/report the time that a bookmark was created in the Bookmarks View, and to be able to sort the Bookmarks View so it would be easy to see which bookmarks were created most recently *and* (perhaps more importantly!) help people trim bookmarks that they didn't need any more. I can see people saying, "What is all this garbage? I don't need anything from last week any more, I'll just delete all the bookmarks older than four days. Boom, done." Related: bug 201144, which asks for bookmarks to be coupled to the Mylyn Task. I think this is a great idea, but not everybody uses Mylyn. (Maybe they should, but that's a separate question. ;-) )
As per http://wiki.eclipse.org/Platform_UI/Bug_Triage_Change_2009
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
