Description Kevin McGuire CLA 2008-04-28 11:19:32 EDT
In About->Plug-In Details we've added a "Columns..." button. The issue is its function is very different than that of the sibling buttons.

The original two provide additional domain information based on selected element (e.g. Legal Info). The "Columns..." button though operations on the display of the dialog itself. When people see three buttons in a row they assume they have related functions.

Ideally we'd have a subtle specialized control (with a graphic) that we used consistently to allow column resizing of tables, it should look like it belongs as part of the table controls itself.

Now that we have a generic contribution mechanism for installation pages, we should also look at generalizing the columns behavior so that pages with column viewers can all have the same behavior in this area. Any work done to improve the columns handling should consider abstracting this into InstallationPage.

Another aspect is preserving column width in dialog settings.

another aspect is proportionally resizing columns on container resize

I don't think this is a priority for 3.6.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
