if a user adds a considerable number of tools, say more than 10 or 20, the 
external tools menu becomes unreasonably large. consider limiting this menu to 
the first 20 items on the rare occasion that a user adds many external tools. 
(i know we usually test with notepad.exe and a few others only, etc. but 
certain complex projects can warrant many tools with various parameter 
permutations..). 

this bug depends on bug 19448, as it would require a run button on the dialog 
for tools > n.

Defer until after release 2.0  This would require a preference setting to let 
the user control how many are shown...and even which ones are shown. We have a 
few people using External Tools with complexe projects and have yet to run into 
this problem.

We should consider this as part of the UI enhancement post release 2.0

User now controls how many there will be.

Note: new external tool work is not yet released to the head stream and won't 
for a while yet.

This bug has not been fixed and should not have been closed.

This is now fixed. External tools launch history length/favorites are 
controlled in debug launch history preference page, where a tab appears 
for "external tool" history settings.
