Description Markus Keller CLA 2007-06-22 08:54:11 EDT
I'm getting Bugzilla mails with outdated state transitions like the one below. I'm pretty sure this has never happened until recently. I can't tell exactly when it started, but it's only been for a few days now.

The changes for bug 139857 look OK in the mail, but there's something wrong with the transition of bug 162505 from NEW/- to RESOLVED/WONTFIX.
According to bug 162505's history, this change was performed on 2007-06-19 and the bug should be RESOLVED/WONTFIX now, but when I look at the bug, it says it's ASSIGNED/-.

This looks like some serious data corruption in the bugzilla DB.

And it's not a one-time issue; I see the same problem for each bug that is marked as dependent on bug 162505.

Wow, big surprise, bug 162505 is one of those that I magically changed for Tod, so that billions of e-mails don't go out. See bug 193514

I'll fix this, but this is why screwing around with Bugzilla data is not a good idea :(
Comment 2 Denis Roy CLA 2007-06-22 09:21:20 EDT
I manually added the required bug activity history for bug 162505... Is there any way to test and see if it still behaved erratically?

If this fixes the problem, I'll do the same for all the other bugs that were messed up.

If someone other than me makes this bug depend on bug 162505, then I will get the same notification message as I got for bug 139857.

Another way to check it would be if Tod adds me to the CCs of the next bug he's going to mark as dependent of bug 162505.

Dani made this bug depend on bug 162505, which made Bugzilla send the mail below to me. Notification looks correct now. Removing dependency again.

Denis, please make sure the history entry is added for all manually tweaked bugs.

Markus, is this still a problem?
Comment 6 Markus Keller CLA 2007-09-25 13:42:45 EDT
> Markus, is this still a problem?

No, the manually added history entries did the job (verified with comment 4).

I only left the bug open as a reminder for your comment 2:
