Re: [science-iwg] January - New Eclipse Project Proposal
|
Tracy,
There is currently no overlap between IDataSet and ICE or EAVP. ICE's data structures are all about hierarchically organizing so called macroscopic information whereas IDataSet is more for raw n-dimensional data.
There are data structures in EAVP that ICE uses extensively for visualization. All of the current data structures in EAVP were once in ICE, but we have since moved them and replaced them with code generated with EMF for the EAVP IC.
I think ICE will very quickly develop dependencies on IDataSet with this project.

All,
I believe the intention with the proposal was always to include these structures, and indeed the project schedule reflects that. The two main concerns are
i) what the initial contribution contains
ii) if the scope of the project description is accurate enough to reflect the ICE/EAVP structures
But there was a general lack of understanding on our (Kichwa's) part on what this involved, so thanks Jay for the overview. One thing I'm still not clear on is what is the overlap with the ICE and the EAVP structures (if any)?
