Sorry to continue this further OT, but I was under the impression that GIT was being considered more as an "alternative" repo for projects that favour speed over other things. I have long hoped that WTP in particular would move to a more "modern" repo like subversion that supports transactional model.

subversion hasn't really caught on at
Eclipse (though a few projects happily use it) and now GIT is considered
"the future" at Eclipse (if not next generation).
But I can not imagine what led you to
this mailing list to ask this question.
You'll probably want to read some of
the "new comer" type mailing lists/forums to learn more about
Eclipse.

I have heard through our campus IT server
administrators that subversion is the next generation of CVS. I know
CVS is offered by default by Eclipse. What about subversion? Any
thoughts?
