[stem-dev] Agenda for the STEM Community Call this Thursday, August 9

STEM Users All,

Our STEM call this month will be at 9 am Pacific time. As always, we welcome you to join us; if you’d like to, email me at judyvdouglas@xxxxxxxxxxx for call in instructions.

You’ll note that the agenda is lengthier than usual because it includes details on next steps toward the release of STEM Version 4.0.0—steps made possible by the successful hard work done by Ahmad Swaid.

During the call, Jamie, Stefan and Ahmad will flesh out what’s suggested in the agenda below.

Agenda for the STEM Call on August 9, 2018

1. Update on STEM Version 4.0 Milestone 1

*Ahmad: Resolved red dots problem in Project Explorer

*Ahmad: The Big News--STEM4 build working on Eclipse Jenkins server

*Jamie/Stefan: Create a project in Git called “recent builds”? May need to reopen bug 537115

if we want the build server to do the push (See item 2 below)

*Jamie: Followup--Sent Ahmad folder, created edit access so he can update to eclipse photon 4.0 including the latest Mac and PC versions of the e4 branch in the folder; we can then do integration testing

*Jamie: Next Steps--Discussing with Stefan and Ahmad

Get the push to Git working (Ahmad, Stefan, Eclipse cdi)

            Test (Jamie, anyone else)

When tests pass, merge back to the branch (Ahmad)

Push the tested integration build to e4 to Git (Ahmad)

Mark the new branch integration build as STEM 4.0.0M1 (Milestone 1)

Push that to website from Git (can we automate this?)

Schedule the release meeting with Eclipse (Jamie)

Announce on website and wiki (Judy)

Release STEM 4.0.0 (all)

*Other Actions: Review/update documentation; eventually add jar file for math 3

*To prepare for the release meeting with Eclipse (see above), prepare slide deck proposal including request for modified logos [bug 534480] as last step to graduate STEM from Milestone to a Release

2. Build Server Decision
*Jamie: Contacted the webmaster at Eclipse; confirmed procedure; created Jenkins build request against Eclipse Foundation>Community>CI-Jenkins [bug
537115]

*Stefan: Edited the plug and +1 the request

3. Project Updates

*Emily (not on call; email input to agenda): Email thread with Jamie, Stefan & Ahmad addressed problem with weekly integration build; works ok now, but not a complete fix, only temporarily uninstalls the new java and replaces it with the old one; Jamie will complete testing e4 build on Java 171 before posting on wiki (noted on stem dev)

*Emily (as above): Problems with disease initializer and stochastic solver were related to the way she had processed the data she was using in the initializer, had nothing to do with STEM; no followup required

*Taras: Problem locating scenario for batch experiment (only automatic); Jamie was to find or place an example batch experiment on the wiki following last month’s call

4. Awards

*Text and design of awards for committer and contributor of the year

*Nomination process

5. Bugs and Feature Requests

534480: EMO approvals for current and future STEM logos (See item 2)

530858: “Randomize Seed” feature moved to branch; bug marked fixed; Jamie will close

530546: Avoiding misspellings in disease and population decorator; new, stem.ui-inbox

530549: Warning decorators not editable through the scenario in STEM; new, stem.ui-inbox
