RE: [ptp-user] Windows Support

Hi Beth, Greg, Neil,

Thanks guys, that actually clarifies it for me quite a bit. I'll have a
look into each of your suggestions as each has it's possibilities.

One more thing:
Since I'm not able to test out and play with PTP (I've no access to a
Linux box currently), maybe you can tell me if PTP is what I'm looking
for. All the developers have windows machines (and generally can't get a
Linux machine) but we use Linux (and Solaris) compile servers. So
currently it's sshing in and using vim/emacs and building from command
line. So they want to use eclipse (with cdt) to remote access the
project on the compile server, and be able to remote build, debug etc as
if it was on the local machine.

I know PTP is more about the _parallel_ part, but it has remote
functionality and that's what interests us.

Also, Greg, you mentioned gdb in windows. Were you refering to cross
compiling it for say both windows and linux?

Thanks for all your help everyone
Kieran

It currently requires OpenMPI, which is not supported for Windows (I
tried buildin it on Windows in November, but didn't get very far.)

The PLDT - analysis and development tools only, not runtime/debugger -
work on Windows just fine, however.

Also as an interesting side note: I recently got a Fedora (core 5)
image and via VMWare player, can run Linux on top of my Windows machine.
And thus PTP.
It's great esp. since I carry my laptop with me everywhere, and I have a
linux machine to demo PTP on, WITHOUT rebooting.

Hello all,
I know I asked this already so apologies if the answer was already
provided, but I seem to have lost it in the maze that is my inbox. Any
idea when the PTP project will be available on windows?

Regards,
Kieran
