Re: [ptp-dev] Eclipse GIT Tutorials

Hi Brian,

The following link contains a Git guide for SVN users: https://git.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/GitSvnCrashCourse

It shows how to perform most of the Git's basic operations by comparing Git commands with the SVN "equivalent" ones, stressing out the differences between them. Hope it helps.

Regards,

Thanks Roland for the links. I have read through most of them. Since I'm only interested in GIT via Eclipse I've skipped much of the command line stuff (maybe I should't have). What seems to be missing is a side by side comparison of CVS/SVN use cases versus doing it in GIT. So far I've not been happy dealing with GIT and have run into a few situations that I've had to delete my local git repo and re-import it. Maybe it's just me, but Beth also has said that it's not been easy for her. So I'll just keep stumbling along. Bri

Hi,

The Egit User guide (http://wiki.eclipse.org/EGit/User_Guide) has in section 3 a description for a large lists of taks. Pro Git (http://git-scm.com/book) is a very good book to describes the internal working of git and usage on the command line. The Gerrit tutorials http://gerrit-training.scmforge.com/ have an introduction into Git and exercises shown with Egit. Other documentation (including video tutorials) are listed here: http://git-scm.com/documentation.

Are there any Eclipse GIT tutorials that are recommended? I need to learn more about how to handle GIT beyond just basic pull-push.
