Re: [polarsys-iwg] Papyrus User Instruction

Gael:

It truly is a important effort you are undertaking.  I look forward to 1.0 and I will continue to do my best with what is available and contribute where I can.  I am primarily using Papyrus at the moment however, I am very interested in the rest..  Will Papyrus always be treated as a separate project or will it be included in PolarSys at some point? Thanks for the response.

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for your interest in the Working Group.
Actually, we are still ramping up, and I understand that it can be frustrating for users who are eager to test the projects.
To address this, we plan a series of "getting started » documents that will help go through the tool chain.
For the moment, I can point you to the Video section that contains a good video of Papyrus.

I can tell you that for the moment, our focus is:
* to provide a 1.0 version of key projects like Papyrus and Sirius with a good level of usability, maturity and stability.
* to bring new projects onboard like Arcon, Chess, Gendoc, Reqcycle, Kitalpha
* to automate integration test between these projects

All contributions are welcome, and I think that describing your use case, your expectations or your requirements regarding to PolarSys would be a good contribution.
Another type of contribution would be to test the latest Luna milestones (start here) of the projects that interest you.
Finally, if your request (as the title tells it) is about Papyrus, you can also post your message to the papyrus developers mailing list (mdt-papyrus.dev@xxxxxxxxxxx) or in the papyrus forum (http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=thread&frm_id=121)

Folks:

The system you are creating is a very welcome addition to the engineers toolbox.  But, the learning curve is extremely steep.  What precious documentation that exists; is in many cases out dated and incorrect.  Additionally, there is no explanation of many of the entities in the language that do not correspond to standard SysML syntax (Nodes on Activity Diagrams for instance).  Please explain what does PolarSys intend to do to alleviate the pain of new users?
