RE: [platform-team-dev] CVS plugin
|
These are explained quite well in the
user documentation that ships with Eclipse. It's available from the help
menu.

Hi Michael…
Thanks allot for the quick
and able response. It helped me allot.
I have another question…
I am a new user of the eclipse
CVS plugin and of CVS in general.
Can you please explain what
is the meaning of the 'Commit', 'Update', and 'Synchronize with repository'
commands there are on the Team menu when I right click a source file?
I really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,

Asaf,
Depending on the version of Eclipse you are using, you may need to change
some preferences. Go to the Team/CVS/Watch/Edit preference page and see
what the settings are. If it is configured to perform the edito in the
background, you will need to swithc to the first option. This will contect
the server and prompt before allowing the file to be edited.

Hi Michael,
I had enabled the watch/edit in the project preferences of two development
workstations and didn't the behavior you are describing.
The only difference is that I am now able to right click on a source file
and select "Show Editors" in order to see who is currently editing
the file.
But now Warning was given to me when I attempted to edit a file which is
already being edited by another developer.
Any help is appreciated on the matter.
Could it be I'm not working on the latest version of the plugin?

You can enable watch/edit in either the CVs preferences or the properties
of a project. This will tag a file as being edited and others who edit
the file will be promted to warn them that someone else is editing the
file. However, it does not prevent editing or committing so it may not
be as strong a locking as you are loking for.

Hi all,
Is it possible to use the eclipse plugin in a way the will enable locking
of a source file while working on it in a matter that will not enable editing
by other users?
