This sentence makes me wonder about your use case. I always thought a strict rule of SWT is *no* work within the 'C' layer. It's thin and generated.

Thus, when working on the macOS port recently, I didn't have a need for the this.  :)

On Linux we have quite a bit of custom code, os_custom.c for instance.
