But are you sorry for the spelling mistake?  It should be "grammar" ;-)

Questions like this are best asked on the eclipse.tools newsgroup.  I think the answer to your question is that SWT is most definitely appropriate.   Consider that the entire Eclipse IDE is implemented using SWT.
