You still do software updates, but you can download the updates zip file 
and do a local update, as opposed to going through the web. You still need 
WSDD installed in order to get at the stuff.

I believe they were recently made available for individual download, for 
those customers who could not use the software updates due to firewall 
restrictions.  I don't know exactly where on the site they are, but they 
should be there.
