[photran] Managed Make / Photran 6

Hi Jeff and others,

since you mentioned in a recent post that Photran 6 should be released
in June, I wanted to ask whether it would be possible to fix the managed
make (=automatic makefile generation) for that release. I had sent a
similar request about half a year ago (addressing Ralph Johnson among
others), explaining that there is probably a large target group
interested in this, like people switching from Windows (MS Visual
Studio), and beginners to programming / Fortran/ Linux. I still believe
that both groups are potentially large and central to the Photran
project, including e.g. junior researchers and Phds from non-engineering
fields (I am doing a Phd in economics).

Since my last post, there have been many requests/problems/comments
related to this. The features which seem most needed are that files are
built in the correct order by respecting dependencies (e.g. modules
first), and that files can be organized in subfolders within the
project. I know very little about make, but to me this doesn't seem hard
to implement into the existing structures.

Thanks so much for all your efforts!

Daniel
