Re: [nebula-dev] Request to include Opal into Nebula

Hi wim,

Ok, thank your for your answer. 2 commiters have been added to the project, so bugfixing and improvements will be faster.

Regards

Laurent

Hi Laurent,

I am sorry to hear that and I'm glad that you are back on your feet.

I think we should file one bug against the complete codebase. This will be the least amount of work because legal can then validate it in one go. We have to make sure to mention in the bug that we intend to split the code into multiple projects.

Once the ship starts rolling we will help you assimilate.

Here are directions on how to file the bug:

And here is the general contribution guide.

Best regards,

Wim

Hi wim,

First of all I would like to apologize for the delay of my answer. I had a very very bad end of year, with a lot of personnal issues.
Things are getter better, so I can come back to life.

I've got some bug to fix on Opal, once it's done I'll split opal in numerous projects (one per widget), then I'll post the requests to include them into
Nebula.

Is it the right process ?

Regards

Laurent

Hi Laurent,

Are we still go for Opal? Do you think we can have something in place before Eclipse-con? I'm asking so that we can include Opal widgets in our talk.

Would be super-cool!

Regards,

Wim

Hi wim

No problem, I'm still motivated, just very busy. Our new product will be launched in less than one month,
so we have a lot to do, and in the evening I'm a little bit tired :)

This week end I'll have time, so I'll keep working.

Thank you for your support

Laurent

Hi Laurent,

How are you doing. I hope all the required processes did not demotivate you. Is there anything I can do to help you?

Best regards,

Wim

Hi Wim,

Good news, thank you very much !

I'm gonna start the process this week. I think that I'm gonna propose the widgets in the "Incubation" sub-project.

Let's kick ass :)

Hi Laurent,

We have noticed your work and we are very happy to start the acceptance process [1]. It is wonderful that you have decided to join us.

Currently, the Nebula project is broken down in three sub-projects.

Nebula Release
Contains supported and ready for production widgets.

Nebula Incubation
Contains new widgets getting ready for Release and unsupported widgets.

Nebula NatTable
Contains the Nebula NatTable as a sub-project.

You can choose to join the Nebula project as an independent sub-project. You are then responsible for the build and the release to eclipse.org download.
You can also choose to join the greater Nebula.

If you decide to do the latter then you have a choice to move your widgets in Incubation or in Release or a combination of the two. We have a build system setup and joining this would be the least amount of work.

We are a bunch of loosely coupled committers that together maintain the Nebula project. Each committer is responsible for maintaining their widgets. In some cases, widgets have been adopted by a different author.

We have drafted a wiki page for new contributions [1] Please go there and have a look. If you are happy to comply with our way of working then please file a bug [2].

Best Regards,

Hi,

I'm Laurent CARON, the creator and project leader of Opal, a set of components for SWT.
This project is located at the following URL : http://code.google.com/a/eclipselabs.org/p/opal/

Opal contains 32 widgets for SWT: Multichoice, TextAssist, Angle Slider, Brushed Metal Composite, Dual List, Switch buttons, ...

I hope that widgets of this project will be accepted as part of Nebula.

Best regards
