[mdt-ocl.dev] Re: New OCL Committers

Alex,

Your list looks good. I would add the following:

1. Make sure all OCL committers have subscribed to the mdt.dev and mdt-ocl.dev mailing lists.

2. Make sure that all of the new OCL committers have set up a development environment per Christian's instructions at http://wiki.eclipse.org/MDT/OCL/Dev/Setup.

3. Start moderating the eclipse.modeling.mdt.ocl newsgroup.

4. Update the status of all outstanding OCL bugs for Galileo (per my email to the MDT mailing list yesterday ).

5. Prepare docuware (due May 29) for the upcoming release review (per my email to the MDT mailing list last week ). I've attached the slides that Christian prepared for the Ganymede review last year as a reference.

6. Prepare to submit your about files and IP log to the EMO for review (due June 3). I'll forward the email that Christian sent to the EMO for Ganymede last year as a reference.

Regarding #1 below, I'll follow up with the EMO to ensure that the Portal properly reflects your new status.

Regarding #2, I'm afraid it might be too late since content is now frozen for Galileo; I'm really sorry about this... Ed Merks, as PMC lead, was supposed to process the new committers but didn't; in the end, I gave up waiting and did it myself, but it was too late. :(

Regarding #3, I'll ask Anthony whether he would be so kind as to help us with the next OCL build; note, however, that if there is no new content we probably won't need another build until GA (if at all - we'll just rename the RC). One thing that we should confirm is that the OCL source code has been generated with the latest and greatest EMF templates (there have been a few changes lately)...

Regarding #4, it's probably too late to make any major changes in response, but you should at least comment on the bugs to indicate whether OCL is compliant or not; if we have to resolve the bug as "WONTFIX" then so be it...

Cheers,

Kenn

Hi Kenn,

I am now making a what-to-do list for the MDT OCL component and I think I need your help about it.

This is the list of tasks I've jotted down to be done in the first place:

1. Nominate Adolfo. I found I cannot do it because my profile at foundation portal doesn't yet reflect that I am a committer on mdt.ocl. Is this a question for the foundation portal webmaster, or maybe my profile is to be updated by someone else?
2. Resolve blocker https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=254138 - thanks to Adolfo we have a patch)) It is already resolved as WONTFIX, but can we anyways fix it?
3. Learn how to make OCL builds and get the corresponding access rights to the build procedure, etc. AFAIU, we'll need to cope with that by May 25 (RC2 +1)? I am not sure whether I would be able to get acquainted with the build process by May 25 - thus, perhaps, I would have to ask Anthony to do a favour for OCL once more.

Maybe the list should be extended with someting else?

Regards,
Alex.

Subject: Re: New OCL Committers

Team,

I have good news! Three of the four new committers for MDT OCL have been provisioned by the Foundation, effective as of May 15. Ed and Laurent, you are now officially OCL committers! Alex, you are now not only an OCL committer but component lead as well! Anthony Hunter has been kind enough to step up and get a build together for RC1 (thanks!), but the ball is now in your court! As your first order of business, please note that your slides for the upcoming release review are due to be sent to the Foundation no later than May 29; please see my recent messages to the MDT mailing list for details.

Because Adolfo is not already an Eclipse committer, the EMO suggested that we follow the standard committer election process to add him, so that all of the necessary paperwork is in place, etc.. Any OCL committer can initiate the process by nominating Adolfo via the Foundation Portal (see MyFoundation Portal); Alex, Ed, or Laurent, please do so at your earliest convenience.

Thanks to everyone for their patience and a hearty welcome to the new team! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, I'm here to help.

Cheers,

Team,

I have submitted a request to the EMO, on Ed's behalf, to provision the new committers for MDT OCL ASAP. I'll let you know as soon as everything in place. Thanks for your continued patience.

Cheers,

Kenn
