Then honestly its useless to ask .. this completely contradicts the purpose of the eclipse development process we are all committed to but anyways as the decision was already made there is no need to discuss this any further.

    Witch ones?

https://github.com/eclipse-m2e/m2e-core/blob/master/RELEASE_NOTES.md#200 <https://github.com/eclipse-m2e/m2e-core/blob/master/RELEASE_NOTES.md#200>

The overall consents was that we are not bound to the
Eclipse Release Train cycle with m2e releases so I'm really
    surprised here.

Yes, but there is a consumer community that uses SimRel as main source, and we are delivering some changes that we'd like the community to grasp shortly. SimRel is the main entry point for m2e installations, so it helps to release into SimRel whenever there are changes we want users to get widely.

Sadly that's not how Eclipse works I was told some time ago :-)

If by Eclipse you mean the Eclipse project, then it's wrong. Tons of bugs are delayed to next release everytime. Most releases are "incomplete" compared to initial plan. Because the Eclipse project, like many others, understands its important to release frequently.

Anyways I really don't think we should "rush" here looking at the
release noted there is little to nothing that qualifies for a urgent
release, removing the editor will most likely not give any benefits as
it is possible to remove it already, ignore it ...
Also the moving for m2e-apt from jboss tools to m2e will be beneficial
for the future but won't give a strong impact on current users.

This is not important to you, but it's important to others. This change will be in SimRel 2022-06. Somehow removing deprecated packages isn't giving a strong impact on current users either.

Like it or not, my wish to release m2e in 3 weeks is not really a question here. It's more a warning: I'll do it anyway.
