AW: [jwt-dev] Re: GSoc - 2010

Hi Ilshat, hi Chris,

thanks for your proposal. Alas, only mentors of GSoC can read it, so I don't
have permission this year to see it. But if Chris finds it cool, then I
guess I can simply agree :-)

Concerning the ranking process: last year all mentors were asked to rank the
proposals. Therefore, it is necessary to make some advertisement throughout
the proposals which means that e.g. all SOA-related mentors might give a +1
for proposals in their area. The better a proposal sounds, the more votes it
might become also from persons who are not involved in the project or in
partner projects. So, please try to find a very short and precise
description about the GSoC-project, maybe with some buzzwords, to attract a
huge community.
I hope you might be more successful than we've been last year when the
proposal had two ranks missing and was not accepted.

Best regards and good luck,

Florian

Hi Ilshat,

great to hear from you! I've seen you've already posted a WIP version of
your proposal, keep up the good work :)

There is actually very little information about the ranking process
inside each organization. I only found this post by Wayne Beaton:
http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/soc-dev/msg01008.html

It is possible to give a score in Google's Tool but since I guess there
will be mostly people which are themselves either mentors or students, I
don't quite get the point.

I'll CC this message to jwt-dev, I think Florian may have additional
information since he once attended a GSoC BoF :)

Regards,
Christian
