Is that a composite repo which will only host official 7.x releases,
i.e. no development/release-candidate builds?

It is a composite repo. 

We are planning to adopt the same terminology than the eclipse platform.

It is pointing at the 7.x releases.

Please correct me if I misunderstood the eclipse-platform terminology or something else.
