First, I would like to try a more immediate approach to address https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=429858. This could be done in an additive way, without forcing a refactor that ripples through the entire QE codebase.

We can start thinking about refactoring once you and I are both finished with these tasks.
