Re: [gmf-dev] New Lead for the GMF Project

Given that the project has no current leader, the PMC is empowered to appoint a new leader.

A vote of confidence from members of the project (i.e. a couple of +1s) isn't necessary, but couldn't hurt...

Hi Artem,

I have no problem with you taking over as the new GMF lead. All the committers have all worked well together over the years and we can all share in the "burden" going forward.

We definitely need a GMF lead as the foundation requires one, so I suppose no vote is required unless we have any objections? Anyone?

Cheers...
Anthony

Hi Anthony

True, we've got a couple of weeks here that didn't leave too much time for the GMF issues.

As I understood, all we need to do is to nominate a new lead and vote for/against him, of course after we find a person that can and willing to carry out Rich's duties on the project. Basically, I think there are three persons to consider - you, me and Alex Shatalin - all of us have invested a lot in the project and thus concerned about its future. Any of us "can", only leaving the question of "desire" to take the burden. Now, I guess I'm ready to state I'm willing to give it a try.

Best wishes,
Artem Tikhomirov

      Hi Team,

I am wondering if someone on the Borland team to give a quick
update on where they are at. I am sure it is a very busy time
      with the Micro Focus merger.

We will have to discuss how to nominate a new lead for the GMF
      project.

Note that Ed would like to discuss this topic at next week's
Modeling PMC call, so it would be a good have an agreement by then.

      Cheers...

      Hi,

Given Rich's departure, I'd like the GMF team to nominate a new
leader. Given that Rich is the only committer on the Amalgamation
      project, it
will need a new set of committers, so I'll need volunteers in
      order to
      avoid terminating the project.

      Regards,
      Ed

      Moving on...

      Dear EMO/Ed,

As has been anticipated for a long time, it's time for me to
      move on. I
hereby relinquish all claim and responsibility to my Eclipse
      roles/positions/obligations.

GMF will be in good hands with Artem/Alex (either will make a
      superb Project
      Lead, for Amalgam as well).

Best of luck to you all! It was a pleasure while it lasted.

      Sincerely,
      Rich
