Re: [epp-dev] Future of the JavaScript package

Hi Lars,

Rust and _javascript_ don't want to participate in the Simultaneous Release. Thus they cannot be part of EPP.

However, I believe the Installer can consume the bits from their update sites as well. So not an issue from an Oomph perspective. (@Ed, please correct me if I'm wrong)

Hi Mickael,

that sounds really bad as many users use the Eclipse installer to get
their package. The Rust thread is really long, so maybe you can
summerize the issue? What is the reason to abandon the _javascript_
package? I would assume maintaining the EPP is the same effort as
maintaining it somewhere else.

Best regards, Lars

Hi again,

Just to clarify the timeline: the IDE package in Wild Web Developer should be ready in a couple of weeks max (most probably in a couple of days). As soon as we have a decent build, I'll abandon the support for the _javascript_ package in EPP. Unless someone steps up to commit in the maintenance of JS EPP package very soon, this _javascript_ EPP package will be removed before M3.

Cheers,
